 Five teenagers are currently in police custody as authorities intensify their investigation into the tragic stabbing death of a 70-year-old grandmother at an Ipswich shopping center. The incident occurred at Redbank Plains Shopping Centre, where Vyleen White was brutally attacked during a violent robbery on Saturday.


 The recent arrests include three 16-year-old boys and one 15-year-old boy, all apprehended in Ipswich on Monday. These individuals are currently cooperating with law enforcement officers in the ongoing inquiries. In addition to these arrests, a 15-year-old Ripley boy was taken into custody on Sunday night. He now faces charges related to the alleged unlawful use of a motor vehicle, a stolen car believed to belong to the victim, Vyleen White.



 The tragic event unfolded when Ms. White was grocery shopping, accompanied by her six-year-old granddaughter, and was near her car in the Redbank Plains Shopping Centre. The police responded to reports of a serious assault in the center's car park around 6:30 pm on Saturday.


 Detective Acting Superintendent Heath McQueen provided details of the incident, revealing that the motive behind the attack was a desire to steal a Hyundai Getz. He expressed the somber reality that the result of this crime was the loss of a grandmother's life for the theft of a vehicle.


 Friends and the community have rallied behind the grieving family of Ms. White. Katherine Jenkins, speaking to ABC Radio Brisbane, conveyed the family's gratitude for the outpouring of support. Despite the freshness of the tragedy, the community has shown significant solidarity.



 The sentiment among friends and supporters is a mix of frustration, anger, and a profound sense of sadness over the senselessness of the incident. Ms. Jenkins highlighted the selflessness of Vyleen White, describing her as a woman who loved to help others, especially within her community. As a beloved teacher, she left an indelible mark on those she encountered, expressing love for her family, granddaughters, and grandchildren.


 As the investigation continues, the community remains united in mourning the loss of a cherished member and seeking justice for the devastating crime that has left a family shattered and a community in shock.
